NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features text commentary for the weekend matchups via various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the football calendar , after recent talk regarding two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments meaning they kind of defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, who play in London this weekend.
But it proved good to see that Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have that deficit before direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory 21-17.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year with cornerback their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that battle.
They executed effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not necessarily sending more than four defenders instead they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start of the season, we said on a program that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended last season well and excelled in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
New tight end Evan Engram has excelled big and new running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
It's impressive that the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in positive down and distances.
This has helped QB Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they lack in the same way as Nix. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is highly agile.
His strengths include his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, and finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and can pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
If you constantly rush it eats up the clock and forces the defence to be on the field for longer, and when you have a mobile QB the defence has to cover the area downfield side to side. This proves draining.
Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly develop him how he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
The head coach has won a championship and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. I think the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're performing above average, that's a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key is is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their strength, that is running the ball, and this is precisely what they must do against the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.
Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking when you think that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.
After this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.
This hinges on what version of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
