Donald Trump’s family business increased its recruitment of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, even as his administration was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the identical, an analysis released Thursday claimed.
Based on information from the federal labor department, the business sought to hire at least nearly 200 foreign workers in 2025 for temporary positions at the US president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.
The quantity of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for workers including waitstaff, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the highest ever filed by the company, and increased from over 120 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term ended.
It was also the fifth time in a decade that the former president had sought to hire more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at his Florida resort, according to labor statistics.
The disclosure coincides with a tightening on legal immigration by his administration that has involved the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the 55 million people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and journalists.
In total, the Trump Organization aimed to hire 566 foreign laborers over the period Trump has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.
Notably, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this period for remarks justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.
“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to spend billions to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he stated to a host after she suggested that foreign workers undercut the wages of US workers.
The White House declined a inquiry for comment, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an request for information.
