'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Families of Unaccounted For Teens Await News After Ski Resort Fire

The relatives of teenagers missing after a tragic inferno at a establishment in a Switzerland's ski resort are facing an agonising wait for answers and pleading for information about their loved ones online.

The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Circulated video depict the ceiling igniting as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Officials have stated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the fatalities of the fire, which claimed the lives of 40 people and hurt another 119. A spokesperson said on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been accounted for, with work ongoing to locate the final individuals.

In the interim, relatives have been using social media to request clues about their missing relatives who were in attendance that fateful night.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are currently unknown, according to an appeal from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in the capital, but could not find him.

"I'm living a nightmare, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she stated.

She continued that some of his peers had been discovered with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured an absolute nightmare."

The Italian foreign ministry has indicated that a number of of its citizens have not been located.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, originally from Genoa but now living in the UAE.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is dead, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "young athlete who carried with him passion and authentic values."

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also among the missing. His parent told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with friends and ended up at the bar.
