The newcomer A debut start for his country. Somewhat sloppy when playing out but his dangerous deliveries posed a danger. A handy game manager for the manager to call upon against teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a rash foul. Six

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and set-plays caused problems. Enjoyed room to move down the left flank only to be in an offside position as the pass came in shooting positions. Given a merited break after an hour. 6/10

The star midfielder Played in a high spot down the right and also contributed with dirty work. Displayed glimpses of brilliance and dragged an effort wide. Replaced towards the end by Rogers, his competition, after receiving a caution. Seven

The winger Had England’s top opening in the opening period, his strike well saved from the Albanian keeper. With a teammate holding position, it fell to him to offer an outlet out wide but his crosses from wide areas varied in quality. Taken off late in the match. Six

Harry Kane The decisive figure with his two more finishes at international level. The first a typical poacher’s finish and his next a classy finish with his head following a clever run off his defender. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and England have every chance in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. 8

The attacker Found it tough to get into the game on the left flank. Had a good opening after being played in by Bellingham but the keeper denied him. His replacement made much more of effect in his place. 5/10
