Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
