Lindsey Vonn Confident of Being 'in a good place' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, on the back of securing a top-three finish for the fourth time in five World Cup events.

The veteran athlete, who recently made history by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, came in third place in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This marked her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup top-three result.

Strong Return in the French Alps

Racing in the iconic venue for the first occasion in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place.

"I didn't quite have enough direction on the initial jump," the skier commented. "From that point on, I performed strongly. I'm satisfied with my skiing today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was too conservative."

This result was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also finished third in the downhill race on Saturday.

An Incredible Return from Injury

Vonn ended her career in early 2019 because of ongoing knee problems. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 after a partial knee replacement.

With 47 days remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from 6-22 February, Vonn's form are timely.

She has one gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is strongly positioned to represent the United States at the 2026 Games.

"In Cortina, I will be where I need to be," the athlete confirmed.

Chasing More Titles

In addition to her Games aspirations, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four World Cup titles she has secured over a professional journey spanning 20 years.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table.

This current World Cup circuit includes a total of nine races taking place before the circuit finale in Norway on 21 March 2026.
