Former world champion Parker returned an adverse finding in a drugs test carried out the very day he faced 11th-round defeat to British heavyweight Ipswich-born Wardley.
Fabio Wardley and Parker participated in an intense contest staged in the UK capital on 25 October to decide the identity of the WBO mandatory challenger against unified heavyweight titleholder Oleksandr Usyk.
The fighter had been the leading contender to meet Usyk after stringing together a notable six-fight winning streak, but placed his mandatory challenger status on the line in London and experienced a stoppage in round eleven.
A standard screening conducted on the boxer by Vada the day of the match showed an adverse result which leaves Parker facing a challenge to clear his name.
His promotion team issued a communique declaring: "The anti-doping body alerted all relevant parties about Parker returned an adverse finding after a drug screening carried out on the fight day. During the ongoing inquiry, no additional comment are forthcoming currently."
Parker was crowned titleholder in 2016 until he was defeated for the WBO title through a points decision against Anthony Joshua at the Millennium Stadium 24 months later.
The fighter became a frequent visitor in the UK from that point, competing in eight bouts in total on UK territory and relocating to Dublin for training camps alongside highly regarded trainer former champion Lee in recent years.
Coached by Andy Lee, Parker bounced back from his defeat in 2022 versus Joe Joyce to achieve several successes which put him front of the queue to challenge Usyk until he suffered defeat to the British fighter.
Following Parker returned a failed test during the Wardley bout, allegedly for cocaine, an inquiry about the test outcome is underway.
