Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
