Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the boxing community offered sympathy for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
